How it all begins
Soooo.... I AM IN ECUADOR!! haha. As I landed in Quito I had one of those what on earth am I doing moments. Haha. But I'm alright now, everything is going great. Pastor Lynford and my new friend Fernando picked me up. I am living with Fernando's family during my time here and they have been amazing. Fernando is learning english and has been a huge help adjusting and translating a bit. It has been great teaching each other. I am meeting with Lyford every few days to catch up on everything. Other than that I am completely emersed in Quito. I am in the city, however the house I am staying is very nice considering the surrounding area. I am meeting lots of people and Spanish is rapidly taking over my vocabulary and my mind. Most of my thoughts are in Spanish already. It has been a great time of getting to know the people and the area. Church was great. They have also taken me to see some of the sights inculuding one of the mountains surrounding the city. I will have pictures at some point in the future. Every thing has been great. Next week we will begin the construction on the church as we add another wall and eventually a second floor. The hardest part is simply being alone and stuggling with the language at times. It has been difficult being thrust alone into an entirely new culture and language. This is probably my biggest need in prayer is simply to not be so lonely, particularly at night and to continue to work on the language. It gets exhausting after a long day. I have no complaints though and so God has proven to be more than reliable and giving me tremedous blessings. Thanks again for the support and I can't wait to share more with you soon. I love you and God bless.

I posted a comment earlier, but apparently it didn't take. We're glad to hear that you're settled in and getting used to the people and surroundings. We have been praying for you daily, but will pray that you feel God's presence when you feel alone. He is faithful. We're very proud of you Eric, and love you. Keep seeking what God's purpose is for you there.
love you,
Dad, Trisha, and the kids
Always, always praying for you.
I missed you tonight. Happy new year :)
I am so excited to hear about your trip. Everything sounds amazing, and I'm so happy that you are enjoying yourself!
I understand what you mean when you say you feel alone at night. It happends to the best of us. Just remember that we are all there in spirit, cheering you on and giving you big hugs :D (and besides, should you truly ever desperately need someone, I am positive that one of the boys would be on a plane to you in a heartbeat... and Hiedi right along side them!)
keep on having a blast! -Lizzz
Happy New Year! Hope all is well down south. We really missed you on the trip to FL. The Motes say hi and are praying for you. Morgan's team got to the semi-finals before losing to a team from California. Your sisters had a good time as Disney but we couldn't get them to go on too many rides. We needed you there to shame them into going.
We are so very proud of the work you are doing bud. I know God is working through you. You are a very special person. Can't wait to hear from you.
Love,
Chris, Mom, Elise and Emily
